The main aim of Disability Research Center (DRC) is to support social inclusion of persons with disabilities in Georgia. In this process it is crucial to create research based evidence for development different services encouraging social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Accordingly, carrying out the relevant researches and spreading out the research findings among the main stakeholders is one of the key priorities of DRC. 

The following research projects have been carried out by DRC:

  • 2019  -UNDP funded research project “Improving state services supporting inclusive education in Georgia”
  • 2019–2020 - The Center for Training and Consultancy (CTC) funded research project  -  “Healthcare and Social Protection of Senior Citizens in Georgia – Existing Services and Main Needs”
  • 2018 - UNDP Funded research project “Improving State Services Supporting Employment of Persons with Disabilities in Georgia”
  • 2015-2016 - International Visegrad Foundationfunded  Research project “ Employment of persons with disabilities in Georgia – Lessons from Poland, Hungary and Czech Republic”

In 2019 the project proposal “Curriculum Innovation for Social Change (CISI)” prepared by DRC and submitted to Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education program was granted. The project has been implementing at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. Strengthening the curriculum of teacher preparation program at Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences with the new courses related to special education is the main aim of the project. In addition, Certificate Program in special education will be developed for school practitioners.
